Surviving Lockdown: Week 2 & 3
Hello!
We’re now halfway through week four of lockdown. I’d planned on doing this update post weekly during our self-isolation, but last week was pretty full-on with work so I’m combining two weeks into one. I’m pretty pleased that I’ve had work to keep the boredom from setting in, and the project I was working on launched last week!

Despite being busy I’m still finding lockdown so tough. Part of it is because we can’t go out whenever we want, but it’s more to do with missing people. I’m in lockdown with my favourite person (I realise how lucky I am for this to be the case!), but as much as I love my OH, I really miss my family and Mark’s family too.
I’ve really enjoyed seeing people’s home bakes on Instagram but I’m yet to jump on the baking or banana bread trend. I have been enjoying cooking a lot though. Pre-lockdown, our Sunday night routine was dinner at Mark’s parents, so I’ve been trying to make proper Sunday night dinners to fill the void. I’m kind of enjoying my Sunday dinners more (except for having dishes to do!) – I still haven’t told Mark’s mum that I don’t really eat meat!! This makes Sunday dinner a bit stressful.

In between work and eating I’ve managed to binge-watch a lot of boxsets.
I finished The Mindy Project last week and I’m almost done with Ugly Betty, I did watch this when it was originally on but felt like re-watching it – there are so many questionable things about it though! I also managed to get Mark on board with The Tiger King! There have been so many memes based on it that his interest was piqued. It’s the most bizarre thing I’ve watched in ages and hard to watch. Big cats and exotic animals shouldn’t be kept as pets! After binging it all over two nights we also watched a Louis Theroux documentary that featured Joe Exotic.
Disney has also featured pretty heavily in my life over the last two weeks. I’ve lost count of the number of Disney quizzes I’ve done on Buzzfeed, and after watching some of Disney Fairytale Weddings I think I’ve found a new dream job!
I’ve never enjoyed time outside as much as I do now
We managed to get out for two long walks over the Easter weekend (both only an hour!) and it was great! I even picked up some daffodils when we were out to use in my interpretation of Me and Orla’s #15minutemagic photo challenge last week.
What I’ve been grateful for over the last two weeks:
- Video chats with friends – I spent two hours talking to my bestie over FaceTime last week
- Work to keep me busy
- Being symptom-free
- Good weather to go outside and enjoy our government approved exercise time
- Chocolate!
