Bye Bye Frocks and Fairycakes
After seven years, I’ve decided it’s time to leave Frocks and Fairycakes behind and have a bit of a rebrand!

I started writing Frocks and Fairycakes back in 2013 when I was 25. At the time I was working for a major bank, doing a day job with loads of spreadsheets and zero creativity. I was looking for a creative outlet. I read a lot of fashion blogs at the time, and I missed the “fashion” element of my life after dropping out of uni so a fashion blog seemed the obvious choice.
But I didn’t want anyone I knew IRL to know I had a blog! So I came up with a name that kept my anonymity, reflected the fact that my style at the time was mostly cute tea dresses and my love of afternoon tea. Oh, and I’m also a big fan of alliteration. And so Frocks and Fairycakes was born.
It didn’t take long for me to realise that I didn’t have an endless budget for new clothes.

I was a big fast fashion shopper back then, but my job didn’t pay well enough to keep me in an endless supply of clothes for blog posts, and it was difficult to get a constant bank of photos for posts because my photographer at the time started an argument with me pretty much every time we planned to go out and take photos! (I perfected my resting bitch face during my early days of blogging! I also have a much better photographer these days.) Afternoon tea also didn’t feature as heavily in my content as I thought it would. Still, I persevered, moved to more a lifestyle slant and kept writing.
Over the last year or so, I really haven’t felt the love for my blog. The name hasn’t felt right, my branding was too soft and cute, it hasn’t felt like “me” anymore. But I feel like I’ve poured too much into this over the last seven years and I still enjoy writing. I’ve also just paid for another year of hosting, so this is my last-ditch attempt to get my blogging mojo back!
So I’ve decided to self-brand. After seven years it’s bye bye Frocks and Fairycakes, bye bye to the girl I don’t feel like I am anymore and hello Kayleigh Beth.
Please stick around and follow me on my journey to a more sustainable life, no longer filled with fast fashion hauls but much outfit repeating. I will also chuck in some opinion pieces from time to time and snippets of my life!
